An event of superlatives that not only thrills the die-hard fans and spectators in the Westfalenhalle every time: 80 riders from 14 nations compete in exciting races over three days and risk their lives with daring jumps in the freestyle class. For three days of pure adrenaline, the Westfalenhalle is filled with 4,000 tonnes of natural soil, which is shaped into a 300-metre-long race track by excavators and bulldozers – and put in the right light by us.

Planning 6 months in advance

After a two-year break due to the pandemic, JKR-EVENTS was responsible for the conception, planning, tendering, coordination, lighting and sound technology as well as the on-site event management for the comeback. We sit down with the organisers six months in advance to brainstorm, design, advise and plan together how the opening show can reflect the profound emotions that the long-awaited comeback triggers in the fans of fast sports.

This year, we were not only responsible for the content management, but also for the content production: weeks before the event, our team shot the sequences for the opening video by drone flight in the empty Westfalenhalle. The specially produced laser and pyrotechnics show by Lleyendecker, which was customised for the event in close coordination with our project manager, then provided the wow effect on site.
